Possible reasons: 1)looking for bits of rock, dirt, something on the concrete that provides calcium for building their shells. http://animals.about.com/od/mollusks/ig/World-of-Snails/Snail-7.htm This may be part of their food foraging process and you just happen to see them on the sidewalk. 2)getting exercise 3)providing a curiousity for humans
Ha! Clever. :) I love your snail photos, and I really think that middle one is looking for food- in the close up, it looks like his head is stuck between the cracks!
