A-word

A follow-up visit to our pediatrician today confirmed that Sofia probably has a very slight case of asthma. Nothing at all serious; the kind that only really affects her if she's got a cold. We'll get her prescription for a kiddie inhaler-tubey thing filled tomorrow, and see how it goes.

What else is going on? Going out for a little while tonight to celebrate one of Mich's employee's birthdays - she's got such a great crew right now, all guys you can genuinely hang out with. Not the alcoholics/meth tweakers of past years... On the nerd/dork front, I'm somewhat enjoying learning about wikis with the software that the library is now using for our staff resources. My motorcycle has a flat; going to try to get that fixed tomorrow. And we finally got some snow, so I may try to get a run or two of skiing in the backcountry in over the weekend as well. Busy, busy...

My boys' pediatrician also said that Sean may have a slight case of athesma, but that only affects him when he is sick (he tends to cough until he pukes). So we paid the $250 for a Nebulizer (this little machine with a mask to put over his nose and mouth so he can breath in a vapor to help open the lungs), but he absolutely hated it. The motor scared him, and he cried and screamed the whole time I made him use it. Haven't put him through it since, especially since it didn't seem to do anything. What was prescribed for Sofia? Just curious.

We already had a nebulizer (funny, I never thought how to spell that word) from Julien that insurance paid for. He kind of resigned himself to it over time, but doesn't need it anymore. Sofia pretty much hates it, but is starting to get used to it a little. But what we're going to try with Sofia is a tubey kind of thing that fits over an inhaler - it'll only take a minute or two to do instead of twenty. Should work out better...
